For the budgeted, the place to be seen and yet still look hip: Ikea. (Their old tagline: You don't need to be rich to be clever.) Good news: End of the year, there will be two locations to be seen (there will be one at Tampiness)
That day, I went with X, it looks like the whole island is there. At 9-ish in the evening, there were huge crowds. Their o' so-famous cafeteria never seem to slow down though it closes at 9.30pm. This could be due to a new season or it was just one of those weekends. Anyways, what had really caught her eyes (after a long, long day at work) were chandeliers or the less glamous name, ceiling lamps.
This chandelier above, caught her eyes, at the children's section. Alright, this one cost about S$45. Well, there were too many chandeliers available (imagine we had to strain our necks)
These ceiling lights would make me start thinking, "Where did I see these before?". These are S$35. (if you are able to see their tag.) It looks like the most boutiques in the island (especially at Far East Plaza) or the small shops that sells their brand of vintage would be using these for their decor (Another thing that they have in common, these stores are playing Lisa Ono! How arty-farty? Try Ella Fitzgerald or Dinah Washington to impress the naivë?)
Ok, this is X's favourite pick of the day:
Of course, I had nearly fainted. She has a thing for disposables. When the interest wears off, its time to throw it away. These shades is at S$4.50 per piece (affordable to be disposable). Yes, these are pretty predictable.X, I have a suggestion:
Let's try looking out for a similar modified chandelier for the dining table. This will definately standout from the usual chandeliers.
Think on the bright side: Easy cleaning? Certainly less time-consuming? How about using this modified chandelier as a dinner conversation with your guests? Impress them with your arty-farty talk?
